A UK driver was jailed for speeding and causing life-altering injuries in a Jan. 2025 crash.
Majinder Singh Virk, 48, of Wolverhampton, was sentenced to three years in prison and banned from driving after pleading guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving in a Jan. 7, 2025, crash on Moseley Road in Bilston.
He was speeding at 49–54 mph on the wrong side of the road, overtaking vehicles including through pedestrian crossings, when his BMW struck a moped rider near Prouds Lane, dislodging her helmet and causing life-changing injuries.
The victim, who was pulling out of the lane, required emergency treatment and remains hospitalized with permanent disability.
Police confirmed Virk stayed at the scene, and authorities described the driving as reckless and extreme.
The case was heard at Birmingham Crown Court on Dec. 22, 2025.
