A Tripura man linked to a banned militant group was arrested over digital coordination in a protest linked to a woman’s death in Dehradun.

A 33-year-old man from Tripura, Jagir Miah, was arrested in Agartala in a joint operation involving state and central agencies. He is linked to 'Imam Mahmude Kafila,' an offshoot of the banned Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh, and faces charges under UAPA and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for alleged involvement in unlawful assembly and abetment, with evidence pointing to digital coordination via WhatsApp. The arrest follows a candle march in Agartala and New Delhi demanding justice for Anjel Chakma, a Tripuri woman who died after an attack in Dehradun, sparking calls for legal action and broader security discussions.
