South Carolina replaces license plates to honor the Revolutionary War, featuring the Moultrie Flag and a historic slogan.
South Carolina will issue new standard license plates on January 1, 2026, replacing the current “While I Breathe, I Hope” design as part of a mandated 10-year update.
The new plates feature the Moultrie Flag and the phrase “Where the Revolutionary War Was Won,” honoring the state’s role in the American Revolution, particularly the 1776 Battle of Fort Sullivan.
Designed for improved clarity and legibility, the plates will be automatically issued during registration renewals, with existing plates remaining valid until expiration.
The release is part of the state’s 250th-anniversary commemoration of the Revolution through 2033.
Plates are produced through a South Carolina Department of Corrections work program, offering inmates job training and rehabilitation opportunities.
