Scott Dixon, six-time IndyCar champ, honored with New Zealand knighthood for racing success and charity work.
Six-time IndyCar champion Scott Dixon has been awarded a knighthood by New Zealand in the 2025 New Year Honors, recognizing his achievements in motor sport and philanthropy.
Born in Australia to New Zealand-born parents, Dixon was raised in Auckland and began racing in karting before moving to the U.S. in 2001.
He has competed in 23 consecutive IndyCar seasons with Chip Ganassi Racing, securing 58 race wins, 142 podiums, and six championships, including the 2008 Indianapolis 500.
The honor, Knight Commander of the New Zealand Order of Merit, was presented as a surprise to Dixon, who also received accolades for his work with children’s charities.
New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon praised him as a national role model.
Dixon, inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2024, remains focused on racing, aiming for a seventh title and more Indy 500 starts.
