Nigeria appoints Rotimi Oyedepo as new Director of Public Prosecutions.
President Bola Tinubu has appointed Rotimi Iseoluwa Oyedepo, SAN, as Director of Public Prosecutions, moving him from the EFCC to the Federal Ministry of Justice.
The appointment, confirmed December 23 by the Federal Civil Service Commission, fills the vacancy left by Abubakar Babadoko’s retirement at the end of his eight-year tenure.
Oyedepo, a 2007 University of Ilorin law graduate with over 15 years at the EFCC, specialized in complex financial crime prosecutions and played a key role in the P&ID arbitration case.
The government expects him to reduce reliance on external legal counsel and improve consistency in federal prosecutions.
