A Miami man was arrested for stabbing another passenger on a bus after a holiday greeting sparked a fight.
A 73-year-old Miami man, Reynaldo Ortega, was arrested on Christmas Day after allegedly stabbing another passenger on a city bus following a holiday greeting.
The incident, which occurred around 12:20 p.m.
ET, began when the victim wished Ortega a “Merry Christmas” and attempted to shake his hand, prompting a verbal argument.
The bus driver stopped the vehicle and separated the men, but after the victim called 911 and returned to the rear, a physical altercation ensued, resulting in the stabbing.
The event was captured on the bus’s closed-circuit camera.
Ortega, who has pleaded not guilty to aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, claims he acted in response to the victim’s alleged aggression.
He remains jailed without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
The case is under investigation by Miami-Dade police.
