Indian telecom operators accuse Navi Mumbai Airport of blocking 4G/5G access and charging excessive fees, violating telecom laws.
Telecom operators in India, represented by COAI, have accused Navi Mumbai International Airport Ltd (NMIAL) of blocking access to deploy independent 4G and 5G networks and imposing excessive monthly fees of about ₹92 lakh per operator for using its exclusive in-building system, totaling nearly ₹44 crore annually.
They claim NMIAL, despite holding a VNO Cat-B license, is acting monopolistically, violating RoW Rules 2024 and the Telecommunications Act, 2023.
NMIAL denies blocking access, stating it has engaged with operators, offered IBS services at industry-standard rates, and is allowing BSNL to test its system.
The airport, which began operations on December 25, 2025, maintains it follows legal procedures and welcomes individual negotiations, rejecting allegations of cartelization.
The dispute remains unresolved.
