A Hindu man was shot dead by a fellow security officer in Bangladesh amid rising violence against minorities.

A Hindu man, Bajendra Biswas, 40, was shot and killed by a fellow Ansar security officer, Noman Mia, 22, at a garment factory in Mymensingh, Bangladesh, on December 29, 2025. The incident, which occurred around 6:30 p.m. during a security shift, happened without prior altercation, with witnesses reporting Mia asked, “Shall I shoot?” before firing a shotgun at close range. Biswas died from severe bleeding at a local health center. Mia was arrested shortly after fleeing the scene. The killing marks the third recent death of a Hindu in Bangladesh within two weeks, following the lynching of Dipu Chandra Das and the mob killing of Amrit Mondal, sparking national and international concern over rising violence against religious minorities. Authorities are investigating the motive, with no official confirmation on whether the shooting was accidental or intentional.
