China test-flies Jui Tian, a large drone mothership, marking a major leap in its military unmanned systems.
China successfully flew the Jui Tian, a large unmanned drone mothership, for the first time on December 11, 2025, in Shaanxi province.
The aircraft, with an 82-foot wingspan and 13,200-pound payload capacity, can carry up to 100 drones, launch them mid-air, and operate for 12 hours via satellite link.
It features weapon hardpoints and is designed to extend long-range strike capabilities and support missions in remote or disaster-stricken areas.
Originally unveiled at the 2024 Zhuhai Airshow, the Jui Tian represents a major step in China’s military drone development.
Separately, China has also unveiled a new sonar-evading underwater drone system, enhancing its stealth underwater warfare capabilities.
These advancements reflect broader efforts to modernize its military through unmanned systems, though China’s navy still lacks sustained open-ocean operations.
