The Angels bought out Anthony Rendon’s $38.6M 2026 salary, ending his injury-plagued five-year stint.
After five seasons marred by injuries, third baseman Anthony Rendon's tenure has come to an end as the Los Angeles Angels have paid out the remaining $38.6 million of his 2026 salary. Before the 2020 season, Rendon, 35, agreed to a seven-year, $245 million contract. He only appeared in 257 games with the Angels before missing the entire 2025 campaign because of a left hip injury that required surgery. Compared to his All-Star 2019 season with the Washington Nationals, where he contributed to the World Series victory, his performance drastically decreased. The Angels will have more financial flexibility because the remaining salary will be deferred for up to five years.
