Wylye Parish Council seeks approval to build a temporary community hub with essential services after its shop and post office closed.
Wylye Parish Council has applied to build a temporary community hub with a shop, post office, café, and IT space on land near Wyvern Hall, following the closure of the village’s long-standing shop and post office after the 2024 death of its owner.
The project, which would operate seven days a week with extended hours, aims to restore essential services and community access, using two portakabins and providing 15 car and four bike parking spots.
The council explored other locations but found no viable options due to unwillingness from current owners to lease or sell.
The proposal is under review by Wiltshire Council, with public comments accepted until February 5, and could lead to permanent approval if successful.
