Punjab’s assembly opposes central rural jobs law, sparking federalism clash.
On December 30, 2025, Punjab’s special assembly session passed a resolution opposing the central government’s Viksit Bharat-G RAM G Act, which replaces MGNREGA, citing concerns over state autonomy and rural employment rights.
Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan condemned the session as unconstitutional and a threat to federalism, stating Parliament’s laws cannot be challenged by state resolutions.
BJP leader Tarun Chugh echoed this, calling the move politically motivated and accusing the AAP-led government of corruption and governance failures.
