Nearly 2,000 illness complaints linked to water quality have been filed with Uisce Éireann since 2022, according to Freedom of Information records.
Between January 2022 and November 2025, the company received 7,264 complaints, including 1,728 about discolored water and 458 about general quality, with quality concerns rising from 101 to 140 over the period.
Boil-water notices peaked at 107 in 2023, then dropped to 50 by November 2025.
Outages increased from 570 to 796, with County Cork and South Tipperary reporting the highest numbers.
Uisce Éireann said 98% of complaints were resolved on time, all health-impacting issues were reported to the HSE, and customers may receive €30 compensation if service standards are not met.
