Kentucky faces severe blood shortage; urgent calls for donations before New Year’s.

The Kentucky Blood Center is experiencing a critical blood shortage, with O-positive and O-negative blood supplies below a half-day’s worth, and A-negative also dangerously low, due to decreased donations during the holidays. With over 70 hospitals relying on its services, officials urge eligible donors—especially those with O or A-negative blood—to give before New Year’s Day to help replenish reserves. Donors who give by Wednesday will receive two free movie tickets, while mobile drive participants get a hoodie. Appointments are encouraged but walk-ins are accepted.
