A judge blocks Iowa’s plan to replace Achieva at Honey Creek Resort, ordering its reopening under Achieva by March 12, 2026.
A Iowa judge has blocked the state from hiring a new operator for Honey Creek Resort, ordering the reopening of the facility by March 12, 2026, weather permitting, under its previous operator, Achieva Enterprises.
The decision, made by Judge Jeffrey Farrell, reverses the state’s abrupt termination of Achieva’s contract in October, citing insufficient justification and undue pressure following a contentious call about water park repairs.
The court found Achieva’s legal claim had a reasonable likelihood of success and that the state’s actions caused irreparable harm, including the loss of about 50 jobs.
The resort, which opened in 2008 and has faced financial struggles, will remain under Achieva’s management during ongoing litigation.
