India successfully test-fired a 120 km-range guided Pinaka rocket, marking a major advancement in its missile capabilities.
On December 29, 2025, India's DRDO successfully test-fired the 120 km-range Pinaka Long Range Guided Rocket, achieving precise target impact and validating its full range and in-flight performance.
The test, conducted at Chandipur, Odisha, coincided with approval from the Defence Acquisition Council for the system's induction.
Developed by ARDE with support from other DRDO labs, the guided rocket is compatible with existing Pinaka launchers, enabling multiple range variants from one platform.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh called it a game-changer, while the Indian Army plans to adopt longer-range versions, and international interest has grown, including a sale to Armenia and interest from European nations.
