India launches indigenous Kavach 4.0 train safety system on 96-km route, preventing accidents via automatic braking.
Indian Railways has commissioned the indigenous Kavach 4.0 automatic train protection system on the 96-km Bajwa-Ahmedabad route in Western Railway’s Vadodara Division, marking a major safety advancement.
The system prevents accidents by automatically applying brakes for over-speeding, red signals, and collision risks, and functions reliably in poor weather.
It includes 23 towers, 20 Kavach buildings, fiber optic cables, and RFID tags for real-time tracking.
The rollout, part of a nationwide effort, already covers 738 km across key corridors like Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah, with plans to expand to all trains.
