A historic Wiltshire pub reopened under new owners with a refreshed interior, local food, and plans for future upgrades.
A historic pub in Freshford, on the Wiltshire–Somerset border, has reopened under new owners William and Marianne Cartwright-Hignett, who acquired it on December 1, just in time for Christmas.
The Inn at Freshford features a refreshed interior, locally sourced sustainable food from the nearby Iford Manor Estate, and a kitchen led by former chef Matthew Briddon.
Well-behaved dogs on short leads are welcome.
Upgrades include plans for an upstairs dining area, a private dining room, and Sunday roasts starting in January 2026, with the garden set to reopen in spring.
The owners, also renovating the nearby Cross Guns pub in Avoncliff, aim to strengthen the pub’s role as a community hub.
