flag Himax and AUO unveiled a slim, bright LCoS microdisplay at CES 2026, boosting AR glasses development.

Himax Technologies and AUO Corporation have unveiled a new ultra-slim, high-brightness LCoS microdisplay at CES 2026, designed for AR glasses and wearables. The compact module, measuring 0.09 c.c. and weighing 0.21 grams without a collimator, delivers 720 × 720 resolution, up to 350,000 nits brightness, 1 lumen output, and 140% sRGB color gamut. Operating at just 200 mW with 1,000 nits/lm efficiency, it enables lightweight, power-efficient AR devices. With a collimator from Giga-Image, the module remains small at 0.34 c.c. and 0.79 grams. The technology is under evaluation by major global tech firms and could accelerate AR glasses adoption. A live demo is available at CES 2026 in Las Vegas.
