Former ISI chief Faiz Hameed appeals 14-year sentence over secrecy, financial, and political charges.
Former ISI chief Faiz Hameed has appealed his 14-year prison sentence handed down by a Pakistani military court on December 11, 2025, citing violations of legal procedures and seeking a copy of the judgment.
Convicted on four charges including political activity, breach of secrecy laws, misuse of authority, and causing financial harm, Hameed, who retired in November 2022, is the first former ISI director general to face such a trial.
The appeal, filed within the 40-day window under the Pakistan Army Act, will be reviewed by a Court of Appeals led by a senior military officer appointed by the army chief.
The case stems from a 2017 incident involving a property developer’s allegations of raids, asset seizures, and demands for money, revived after a 2023 Supreme Court directive.
Hameed remains imprisoned at Special Prison Rawalpindi, and separate investigations into his alleged political ties and other misconduct continue.
