A Port Stephens Outrigger Canoe Club canoe trailer, missing since late October, was found at a council recycling center after being impounded for lacking number plates and being unregistered.
Council rangers placed a notice on October 26, 2025, but couldn’t contact the owner due to no visible plates.
The trailer was towed on December 6, 2025.
Club head coach Tony Compton said it had been parked in the same spot for years without issue, and the only notice was a faded sticker.
The club must pay impound fees and retrieve it after the new year, and is now seeking to formalize the parking spot in their lease to prevent future problems.
