A 63-year-old Sandpoint man died in a crash with a northbound train at a rural crossing on Sunday.
A 63-year-old Sandpoint man died Sunday afternoon in a collision with a northbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe train at a rail crossing near West Selle Road and North Boyer Road, north of Sandpoint.
The man, driving a white 2008 Nissan Titan westbound, was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.
The train stopped after applying brakes, blocking the road for about four hours.
Idaho State Police confirmed the fatality and are investigating the incident, which remains under review with no further details released.
