Vizhinjam International Seaport, a joint venture between Adani Ports and the Kerala government, has handled over one million TEU in its first 10 months, becoming India’s fastest-growing deep-water transshipment hub.
Located near major shipping lanes, it has accommodated more ultra-large container ships than any other Indian port and processed 650 vessels and 1.4 million TEU in its first year.
The port, India’s first semi-automated terminal, is expanding with a second phase launching in mid-January 2026, including a berth extension to 2,000 meters and a breakwater upgrade, backed by ₹9,700 crore in investment.
Full completion is expected by 2028, aiming to boost India’s logistics competitiveness and reduce reliance on foreign transshipment hubs.
The port also promotes gender inclusion by employing women as automated crane operators.
