A train fire in Andhra Pradesh killed one, injured several, and disrupted services on December 29, 2025.
A fire broke out in two AC coaches of the Tatanagar–Ernakulam Express near Yelamanchili in Andhra Pradesh around 1:30 a.m. on December 29, 2025, killing one passenger, 70-year-old Chandrasekhar Sundar from Vijayawada, who was trapped in the B1 coach.
The blaze, starting near the pantry car, spread rapidly due to overheating brakes, engulfing both coaches.
Passengers evacuated safely after the loco pilot stopped the train.
Firefighters from multiple stations extinguished the flames, and the damaged coaches were detached.
Over 150 passengers were rerouted via buses to Samarlakota, where replacement coaches were attached.
The train resumed its journey nearly four hours late, and several other services were disrupted.
