Singapore to issue $1.8M in one-time grants to fix a 14-year error affecting HDB flat owners.

Eighteen Singapore town councils will receive a combined $1.8 million in one-time grants by January 31, 2026, to correct a 14-year discrepancy in service and conservancy charges grants caused by a system error that excluded some HDB flats handed over in March each year. The shortfall, amounting to 0.09% of total grants, was identified during an HDB review and did not carry forward to future years. Enhanced controls have been implemented to prevent recurrence.
