Sikh leaders condemn Punjab's SIT on missing scriptures, calling it unconstitutional and demanding religious bodies handle the matter.
Sikh religious leaders, including Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargaj, have condemned the Punjab government’s creation of a Special Investigation Team to probe the 2013–2015 disappearance of 328 sacred Guru Granth Sahib copies, calling it unconstitutional interference in religious matters.
They insist the issue must be resolved solely by the Akal Takht and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), citing a report by the Ishar Singh panel that warns against political exploitation.
The SIT was formed after an FIR was filed on December 7, 2025, against 16 former SGPC officials following a complaint by Baldev Singh Wadala.
Leaders also demanded action against online hate content and film production without SGPC approval, and summoned Punjab minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond and CKD president Inderbir Singh Nijjar to appear at the Akal Takht on January 5.
Los líderes sijs condenan el SIT de Punjab por la falta de escrituras, calificándolo de inconstitucional y exigiendo que los organismos religiosos manejen el asunto.
