Police Scotland responded to over 66,000 domestic abuse incidents between October 2024 and September 2025, averaging a call every eight minutes, with 40.3% resulting in recorded crimes.
The force’s Domestic Abuse Task Force led investigations that resulted in 32 serial offenders being sentenced to nearly 230 years in prison for 240 crimes, including rape, assault, stalking, and threats to pets, affecting 110 victims, mostly women and children.
Despite a 10% rise in incidents, detection rates increased by nearly 8%.
Assistant Chief Constable Steve Johnson emphasized accountability, victim support, and addressing root causes of abuse.
During the 16 Days of Activism, police arrested 500 individuals and charged over 380.
