A man was shot dead by Vancouver police after a 911 call reported a gun being fired at his wife; officers say he threatened them with a firearm, but she said he was having a mental health crisis.
A man was shot and killed by Vancouver police late Saturday night after officers responded to a disturbance at a home on Northeast 46th Street, where a 911 caller reported a man pointing a gun at a woman and firing at least once.
Police said the man confronted officers with a firearm, prompting two officers to open fire.
He died en route to a hospital.
The woman, identified as his wife, said he was experiencing a mental health episode and was not a threat.
All three officers involved have been placed on administrative leave.
The Washington State Office of Independent Investigations is leading the probe.
In a separate incident, a 47-year-old man was arrested in Seattle after a 26-year-old woman was shot in the thigh during a shower at his apartment.
Police recovered a BB gun, pellet gun rifle, and small handgun at the scene.
The woman was in serious but stable condition.
The Seattle Police Department’s Gun Violence Reduction Unit is investigating.
