A 23-year-old man from Kelso, Logan Freebody, was sentenced to a two-year community correction order after pleading guilty to threatening a council ranger in Bathurst on September 5, 2024. The incident occurred during a dispute over an unleashed dog, when Freebody, responding to a woman’s profane outburst, approached the ranger, called him offensive names, and threatened to “flatten” him if touched. Fearing for his safety, the ranger retreated to his vehicle. Witnesses recorded the confrontation, leading to Freebody’s arrest. Despite his defense citing completed anger management treatment, the magistrate rejected claims of provocation, stressing the seriousness of the threats and warning that future misconduct could result in jail time.
