Kosovo's Vetëvendosje won snap election but needs allies to pass key loans and elect president.
Kosovo's Vetëvendosje party, led by Prime Minister Albin Kurti, won the snap parliamentary election with 49.3% of the vote based on 99% of results, breaking the year-long political deadlock.
Kurti promised to form a new government and urged opposition parties to support crucial EU and World Bank loan agreements, which require a two-thirds majority.
Despite leading, his party lacks a majority in the 120-seat assembly, and coalition talks are expected, but opposition parties have refused to cooperate on foreign policy and Kosovo's Serb-majority north.
Voter turnout was 45%, and final results are pending uncounted diaspora and conditional ballots.
The country faces pressing challenges, including electing a new president in April and completing €1 billion in international loans before they expire.
