Karl Bushby, a former British paratrooper, is nearing the end of a 27-year, 36,000-mile walking journey around the world, aiming to return to his hometown of Hull, England, by September 2026. Starting in 1998 from Chile, he has faced geopolitical barriers, visa issues, and extreme challenges, including crossing the frozen Bering Strait and swimming 300km across the Caspian Sea. His mother, Angela Bushby, 75, has kept scrapbooks of his journey and plans to greet him with a hug and her familiar joke: “...and what time do you call this, Karl?”
