An Indian man won a UK racial discrimination case against a KFC franchise, receiving nearly £66,800 in compensation after being wrongly fired and abused.
Madhesh Ravichandran, an Indian man, was awarded nearly £66,800 in compensation by a UK employment tribunal in a racial discrimination and wrongful dismissal case against a KFC franchise in West Wickham, London.
According to the tribunal, he was subjected to racial abuse by his manager, a Sri Lankan Tamil, who called him a "slave" and made disparaging remarks, refused to grant him vacation requests, and gave preference to other employees based on their ethnicity.
The judge found that the employer neglected to look into complaints, the dismissal was illegal, and the treatment was racially motivated.
Additionally, the franchise operator, Nexus Foods Limited, was mandated by the tribunal to train all employees against discrimination within six months.
