Held on December 28, the event featured full and half marathons along scenic coastal routes, with China’s Zhao Guohu and Yang Yuan winning in 2:23:21 and 2:50:11, respectively.
The race, now certified by China’s Athletics Association, included digital innovations like blockchain-secured medals and a virtual race with 27,000 participants.
Organizers highlighted the event as part of Hainan’s push to boost tourism and global visibility ahead of hosting the 6th Asian Beach Games in 2026.
