The UK is making its Help to Save scheme permanent, expanding it to 1.5 million more low-income households starting April 2028.
The UK’s Help to Save scheme, offering a 50% bonus on savings for low-income earners, has been made permanent and will expand to include up to 1.5 million more households starting April 2028.
Eligible Universal Credit recipients can save £1 to £50 monthly, with a maximum £1,200 bonus for those saving £2,400 over four years.
The program, managed by HMRC, has already paid out over £220 million to nearly half a million people.
