Indian police have arrested eight people, including a 28-year-old Bengaluru software engineer, Gade Renuka, dubbed the “lady don,” in a cross-border cannabis trafficking case linking Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Sri Lanka.
The network sourced high-quality Sheelavathi strain from tribal areas near the Andhra–Odisha border, using rented properties in multiple states to store and distribute the drug.
Cannabis was transported to Rajanagaram before being smuggled into Sri Lanka.
Authorities seized 74 kg of cannabis, vehicles, and electronic devices following a tip.
A middleman facilitated procurement at ₹5,000 per kg.
The operation marks the first known instance of such cannabis exports to Sri Lanka.
