CEO Varun Vummadi alleges the group obtained confidential information illegally and sent threatening emails starting December 13, using Proton Mail and demanding payments in Bitcoin and Monero.
The company denies all wrongdoing, calling the claims part of a blackmail scheme, and says it has reported the incident to law enforcement.
The extortion comes amid public scrutiny following viral allegations by a former employee about mismanagement and misconduct, which Giga has dismissed as false.
