A Chattanooga teacher was charged with child abuse after her kids said she bit and scratched them over years during anger over a lost phone.
A Chattanooga first-grade teacher, Heather Pecht, has been charged with two counts of child abuse after her children reported she repeatedly bit and scratched them over several years, allegedly during angry outbursts over a misplaced phone.
Police say the children, injured with scratches and bite marks, described incidents occurring about once a week.
The father, who had previously reported abuse without action, was granted emergency custody.
Pecht was arrested on December 26 and is scheduled for a court appearance in January 2026.
Authorities are investigating her employment status, and Hamilton County Schools has not yet responded.
