A UK man was convicted for plotting an ISIS-inspired attack on Manchester’s Jews, arrested with weapons and fake social media extremism.
Walid Saadaoui, 38, a UK citizen who once worked at a Clacton holiday village, has been convicted of plotting an ISIS-inspired terrorist attack on Manchester’s Jewish community between December 2023 and May 2024.
He was arrested in May 2024 at a Bolton hotel car park while attempting to collect deactivated AK-47s, handguns, and ammunition he had ordered.
Authorities say he used fake social media accounts to spread extremism and moved to Greater Manchester to carry out a mass killing, believing a third man was an accomplice—though he was actually an undercover officer.
Amar Hussein, 52, was also convicted.
Both will be sentenced in February.
