The Kama Ashwa Show, a three-day festival celebrating Gujarat’s Kathiawadi and Marwari horse breeds, began in Wankaner with a launch by state minister Jitu Vaghani.
Organized in memory of former Wankaner ruler Digvijaysinh Zala, the event marks its 17th edition since 1994.
Over 250 horses passed veterinary screening to compete, with the state announcing plans for a new breeding center to conserve native breeds.
The festival included cultural performances, a best-decorated horse contest, and the release of a book on equine heritage, highlighting the breed’s historical and Vedic significance.
