Odisha to hold Jan. 3 meeting to finalize auction calendar for 35 mineral blocks, including iron ore and rare earths, under central transparency guidelines.
The Odisha government will hold a high-level meeting on January 3, 2026, to finalize its annual auction calendar for 35 major and critical mineral blocks, including iron ore, bauxite, graphite, and rare earth elements, in line with a central government directive to improve transparency in mining auctions.
The meeting, chaired by the Additional Chief Secretary of the Steel and Mines Department, will assess exploration-ready blocks across districts like Keonjhar, Sundargarh, and Kalahandi, with input from geological and mining agencies.
Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena said 30 mines were prepared for auction, eight have been sold, 12 are in notice stage, and the remaining 10 are scheduled for January 2026.
The finalized calendar will cover auctions for 2025–26 and 2026–27, with all planned auctions expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
