A Milwaukee woman was seriously injured in a Wisconsin crash after her car left the road, crossed a frozen pond, and hit trees; authorities suspect a medical issue played a role.
A 37-year-old Milwaukee woman was seriously injured Friday morning in Lomira, Wisconsin, after her car left the road, crossed a frozen retention pond, and struck a tree line.
The crash, reported around 9 a.m. via an automated emergency alert, occurred on Industrial Drive near East Avenue and Main Street.
She was found incoherent and transported to St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, then transferred to SSM Health St. Mary’s in Madison.
Emergency responders from multiple agencies responded, but a medical helicopter could not fly due to poor weather.
Authorities say a medical condition may have contributed to the crash, while speed and improper seatbelt use worsened her injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
