On December 27, 2025, Durham Regional Police announced 64 arrests and 155 charges during a month-long retail theft crackdown from November 10 to December 16, targeting organized theft across the region.
The Safe Shop initiative, led by the East Division Community Response Unit with support from the LCBO Resource Protection Unit, focused on high-theft locations, including LCBO stores, where 17 arrests and 32 charges were made.
Thirty-eight charges were related to breach offences.
