A new study published in December 2025 finds that regular strength training and a diet rich in protein can help adults over 40 reduce abdominal fat accumulation, commonly known as middle-age spread.
Researchers analyzed data from over 10,000 participants and found that those who engaged in resistance exercises at least three times a week and consumed 1.2 to 1.6 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight daily experienced significant reductions in visceral fat over a 12-month period.
