A man fled police, crashed a car into a pedestrian on Christmas night in Burnie, injuring him slightly.
A 27-year-old man from Newnham is in custody after a white 1997 Holden Commodore, registered EC3109, struck a pedestrian at the intersection of Beattie and Payne Streets in Burnie around 10:30 p.m. on Christmas night.
Police say the driver had refused a breath test at a Bass Highway site near Round Hill at 10:20 p.m., then evaded pursuit before the collision.
The pedestrian suffered non-serious injuries, received first aid, and was taken to North West Regional Hospital.
The vehicle was found in Burnie on December 26.
Authorities are seeking witnesses, dashcam footage, or information about the vehicle and are conducting a Professional Standards investigation.
