A lorry park proposal near Cricklade and Swindon denied due to environmental harm outweighing economic benefits.
A proposed large lorry park on agricultural land near Cricklade and Swindon has been denied planning permission after a planning inspector upheld Wiltshire Council’s January 2025 rejection.
The site, used for lorry parking since 2014 and home to 12 businesses with 53 jobs, was deemed unsuitable due to its negative impact on the rural landscape, including visual intrusion from HGVs and temporary structures.
While economic benefits were acknowledged, the inspector ruled the environmental harm outweighed them.
The decision confirms the site remains in breach of planning regulations.
