Ford recalls over 270,000 trucks and SUVs for park function defect risking rollaways.
Ford is recalling 272,645 trucks and SUVs, including certain F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E, and Maverick models, due to a defect in the integrated park module that may prevent the vehicle from properly engaging Park, risking unintended movement. The issue, linked to software or electronic components, could lead to rollaways, crashes, or injuries. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration requires vehicles to meet safety standards to prevent such incidents. Ford will fix the problem at no cost via a software update, delivered over-the-air or at dealerships. No crashes or injuries have been reported, but Ford is acting proactively. Owners will be notified by mail and advised to use the parking brake until the update is applied. This follows a separate recall involving drive power loss.
