Blue Origin hired ULA’s former CEO Tory Bruno to lead its new national security space launch group, aiming to compete with SpaceX.
Blue Origin has hired Tory Bruno, former CEO of United Launch Alliance, as president of its new National Security Group, the company announced on Friday, December 26, 2025.
Bruno, who led ULA’s development of the Vulcan rocket and its BE-4 engine program, will report to CEO Dave Limp and help expand Blue Origin’s role in U.S. defense and intelligence space launches.
The move signals a strategic effort to challenge SpaceX’s dominance in government contracts, despite Blue Origin’s existing partnership with ULA through BE-4 engine supply.
