Azerbaijan continues trial of 15 Armenians over war crimes; one man sentenced to 16 years for terrorism attempt.
On December 25, 2025, the Baku Military Court in Azerbaijan continued the trial of 15 Armenian nationals accused of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and terrorism linked to Armenia’s military aggression against Azerbaijan.
Defendants, including Levon Mnatsakanyan and Arkadi Ghukasyan, delivered final statements denying all charges, with Mnatsakanyan retracting prior statements and submitting a 51-page written statement.
The court proceedings, presided over by Judge Zeynal Agayev, are ongoing, with hearings set to resume on December 26.
Separately, Karen Avanesyan, a man of Armenian origin, was sentenced to 16 years in prison by Azerbaijan’s Ganja Grave Crimes Court for terrorism-related offenses after attempting to attack a public event in Khankendi with weapons and explosives.
