Alstom wins $1.13B contract to build 47 trains for new Mexican rail lines, with local production and 5-year support.
Alstom has won a $1.13 billion contract to build 47 diesel multiple-unit trains for two new rail corridors in Mexico, including routes from Mexico City to Querétaro-Irapuato and Saltillo to Monterrey-Nuevo Laredo.
The deal, announced December 15, includes five years of maintenance, training, and commissioning.
Trains, to be built at Alstom’s Ciudad Sahagún plant with 76.6% local components, are four-car Adessia Stream units capable of 165 km/h, with seating for up to 600 passengers when coupled.
The first phase of the Nuevo Laredo route began construction in November 2025, while the Mexico City-Irapuato line was already under way.
