Turkcell and Google Cloud are building hyperscale data centers in Ankara, set to launch in 2026 and reach full capacity by 2028, making Türkiye Google Cloud’s 43rd global region.
The project, creating a “Sovereign Cloud” compliant with local laws, will host over 200 cloud and AI services, enhance data security and performance, and support digital transformation across public and private sectors.
The centers will use customer-controlled encryption and reduce latency, while a pay-as-you-use model lowers startup barriers.
Renewable energy investments, including wind and solar, will power the facilities, with a $240 million commitment and a net-zero emissions goal by 2050.
The initiative aims to boost Türkiye’s economy by $5 billion annually and support future technologies like 5G, 6G, and smart cities.
